We now have a new mission to be a “world-class school” as expressed in our mission statement and my staff and I will serve to enable our students to be holistic or all-rounded individuals striking a balance in their academic and non-academic pursuits.

Teaching Experience: 46 years

Warmest greetings to all our stakeholders, parents, colleagues and students. It is my honour and joy to join the SISB family from July 2017.

As a brief introduction of myself, I have been involved in education for more than 45 years: 18 years with the Medical Faculty, National University of Singapore, 23 years with a top school in Singapore, the Anglo-Chinese School, Independent, which was ranked as the top school in Singapore and in the world for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results. In addition, I spent about 5 years to establish the IBDP programme for a school in China. Appointed as the adjunct Associate Professor of the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, I have conducted training for Heads of Department and those aspiring to be Vice-Principals and Principals in Singapore.

As I start, with the SISB Board’s approval, a clear strategic direction for the school has been introduced, whilst maintaining the tagline “Spirit of Excellence” in SISB to ensure we strive for excellence in all aspects of our education. A new motto has been established: “Dare to Reach the Highest”, which will propel our staff and students in the secondary section to realise our full potential and to do our best in our learning journey. We now have a new mission to be a “world-class school” as expressed in our mission statement and my staff and I will serve to enable our students to be holistic or all-rounded individuals striking a balance in their academic and non-academic pursuits. They will be honed with the necessary skills and we will inculcate in them, fine leadership qualities and exemplary character attributes to help them succeed in life.

A number of systemic changes in terms of re-organisation in management, curriculum offerings, staffing, scheduling, systems and processes will progressively be introduced to ensure we achieve our mission and vision. Our secondary section is a six-form school and students are now enrolled from Grade 7 to 12, making SISB a K to 12 school, like many schools internationally. You would also be pleased to know that the School Board has also approved for us to register as an IB world school and our first batch of IBDP students should begin their course of study from the new academic year in 2020. We look forward to working with you to enable our students to be the best they can be.

Thank you.
